Craps is the most popular casino dice game and like most casino games the key to winning is keeping the house edge to the lowest possible. There are some players who believe dice setting is the way to go on the craps table but this requires exceptional skill and obviously won't work when playing online craps.
The best strategy we can give you is to stay with the bets that have a low house edge and avoid the ones with a high house advantage. By doing this you give yourself the best chance of winning over the long term. It's worth noting that the built in edge means more often than not the casino wins over the long term.
Best Craps Bet : Pass Line
The pass line bet is the best bet that you can usually make. It is a great bet for beginners as it has a low house edge of just 1.41%. The pass line bet is placed on the come out roll. If the dice show 7 or 11 you win 1 to 1. If the dice show 2, 3 or 12 you lose. If the dice show 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 the point is established. You win if the shooter rolls the point and lose if a 7 is rolled.
Other Good Bets
In addition to the pass line bets there are a couple of other bets at the craps table which offer relatively low edge to the casino. The Don't Pass bet is the opposite of the pass line and has an edge of 1.4%. In land based casinos betting on this can annoy some players as you are winning wen they are losing.
Worst Bets
You might be amazed to know that the worst bets on the craps table have a house edge that is up there with slot machines. These bets are all of the "Hardways" bets and all of the proposition bets. For example the various hardway bets have a house edge of between 4.5% and a big 11%.
The proposition bets are even worse. For example the "Any 7" bet pays just 4 to 1 but has an edge of 16.67%. In general the bigger the pay off for the different bets the higher the house edge gets although the Any 7 is an exception as the other proposition bets pay between 7 and 30 to 1 and have edges between 5% and 13%.
Craps Systems
There are quite a few unbeatable craps systems for sale on the internet at the moment. Unfortunately they all fail as there is no way to predict the outcome of a random event like throwing dice. Some players like a system where they bet on multiple opposite outcomes but this also fails as the casinos have made sure that there is no simple way to beat the game of craps.
Rather than wasting your hard earned money on buying systems we suggest you use your money that you would have spent on systems for play at the tables. At least this way you will definitely get some entertainment value and with a bit of luck you will end up a winner.
